Brett Favre contrversy

1 08 2008

As you probably know by now, Brett Favre has declared his retirement, then changed his mind and decided he wants to return.  The Packers realize that if Favre was feeling so sore that he wanted to retire he’s probably too old. Also he hasn’t won a Super Bowl in awhile and based on those factors they don’t want Favre back.  They’ve even gone as far as offering him a contract to stay retired.  They are acting strange though.  If they think Favre is really too old why don’t they want him playing for rival team the Vikings.  Obviously they must not be sure how Favre will play but they don’t want to be stuck with him if he’s not playing well but if he does play well they don’t want him playing against him.  Other teams agree with the Packers organization.  Even if they don’t say it they show it by the fact that they are only offering the Packers 4th round picks for him.  They must also think he will not play well and don’t want to be stuck with him.  Favre has recently stated that the contract he was offered to stay retired “although awkward and unsettling to most, may be the best option in the end.”

Brett Favre was traded to the Jets after discussions with manegment. It was nearly the Buccaneers who got him but Favre was the one who reminded everyone that the Jets were still an option.

Brett Favre after discussions with managment was traded to the Jets. It seemed as though he would be traded to the Buccaneers but in the end Favre reminded everyone that the Jets were still an option. The trade was for a third round pick but could move up to a 1st round pick if Favre plays a certain percentage of the snaps and the Jets make it to the Superbowl. We are all still awaiting Brett Favres first regular season start.
